Hello, my name is Sophie Bourne and I have worked as a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist for almost 14 years and I love it! I currently work for 3 days in the NHS as a highly specialised speech and language therapist for children with Cleft Lip and Palate and Velopharyngeal Dysfunction. I have specialised in this field for 8 years but also have experience in a range of Children’s Communication Needs, including Phonological Delay, Speech Sound Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Selective Mutism, Stammering, Autism, and Developmental Language Disorder.
I live in Melton Mowbray with my family and have 3 children who are now all at school and I understand the pressures or parenting and having to navigate expected milestones. I am happy to travel around Leicestershire and can see children at home or in preschool/school. I can offer one off visits or ongoing therapy depending on the child's needs.
I am happy to be contacted to discuss any questions or needs you may have.
Training and Memberships:
I am a member of the Health Care Professionals Council, the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practise and I have a full DBS check through the NHS.
BSC (Hons) Clinical Language Sciences (2011) Leeds Metropolitan University.
MSC Cleft and Speech (2020) University of Sheffield.
